The entry requirements for Tahiti have been removed.

If you love Tahiti like I do and consider it a top bucket list item, then this news will excite you.  The entry requirements have now been lifted.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRANCE TO FRENCH POLYNESIA

The reopening of the international borders of French Polynesia is contingent upon tourists, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, adhering to the requirements outlined in the following list:

Travellers leaving the United States, Canada, or Mexico who have been immunized should check off the following items on the airport checklist:

  • Documentation demonstrating a "full vaccination program" (CDC vaccination card).
  • After obtaining the second dosage of Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, or Novavax, a person is deemed fully vaccinated seven days after receiving the injection.
  • After 28 days have passed since the initial dosage of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccination, a person is regarded as having received the full protection afforded by the vaccine.

Even if a passenger has received a full vaccine (one dose from Janssen or two doses from Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazeneca, or Novavax), they are needed to get a booster shot prior to travelling to French Polynesia if it has been more than nine months since their most recent dosage. A booster shot is not necessary if the previous dose was administered less than nine months ago and travel to French Polynesia will occur within the next nine months.

Before departing for Tahiti, vaccinated travellers do not need to provide proof of having a negative antigen or RT-PCR test. This requirement has been lifted.

If you are not vaccinated and are departing from the United States, Canada, or Mexico, the following items should be checked off on the airport checklist:

EITHER a negative RT-PCR test that was carried out within 72 hours (3 days) of departure OR a negative Antigen test that was carried out within 48 hours (2 days) of departure Children younger than 11 years old do not have to submit to a pre-departure COVID test.

- It must be made very clear, in the test findings, that:

  • A bad consequence
  • Test type being RT-PCR or Antigen
  • Date test taken
  • Individual's or traveller's name of the passenger

Before boarding the aircraft to French Polynesia, passengers are required to provide the medical document to airline personnel at the time of check-in. This document must have been provided by a physician, hospital, or medical clinic.

Antibody testing, self-testing, and home testing are not recognized by the health authorities in French Polynesia; as a result, boarding on airplanes will be prohibited for those individuals who rely on these methods.

OR a certificate of recovery with a date that is at least 11 days after the contamination by Covid-19 and a positive viral test result that is related to it. After the date of the viral test, the certificate of recovery is only good for a period of six (6) months.

No compelling purpose for travel nor quarantine on arrival is needed.

Please take note that children up to the age of 11 are exempt from having to present the aforementioned documents and are permitted to travel as long as they are accompanied by an adult that fits into any of these three categories.
