It always comes to an end.  It must and you have to return to real life.  But, when the time comes, it has gotten a little bit easier to leave in an international location.

It will now be a little bit simpler to wave goodbye to that dreamy beach holiday, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which has officially opened its first international PreCheck screening checkpoint at Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas. It will be the first TSA PreCheck screening site to be established outside of the United States.

PreCheck is currently accessible at over 200 airports across the United States, in addition to Nassau. As one of 16 foreign pre-clearance locations served by the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Nassau employs people to screen tourists before they board their flight back to the United States1.

Nassau is a popular destination for travelers from the United States, and it is regularly served by direct flights from cities such as Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Washington, Denver, Dallas, Detroit, Newark, Topeka, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Islip, New York, Orlando, Miami, Minneapolis, Chicago, Palm Beach, Philadelphia, Providence, Sanford, San Juan, and Tampa.2 Nassau is regularly served by direct flights from cities such as Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Washington

TSA PreCheck members enjoy a more speedy security process in airports, making use of dedicated lines that don't require them to remove their shoes or electronic devices before passing through security. Membership in this program, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security's Trusted Traveler Programs, costs $85 and is valid for five years; renewals are $70.

"Permanently opening this TSA PreCheck lane for travelers who join the risk-based program is a credit to the Government of The Bahamas and the commitment of the officers who are maintaining the highest standards of transportation security," David Pekoske, the TSA administrator, said in a statement.

If you plan on going to the Bahamas, know that you can look for the TSA Precheck line to save some time on your trip home.
