This two-mile stretch of sandy beach is sometimes referred to simply as Family Beach and is, perhaps unexpectedly, particularly popular for families vacationing with children in tow. The beach is not only patrolled by lifeguards, but the swimming is also safe, with a gentle slope that provides enough of shallow water for the little ones to splash around in. The beach boasts a long-popular promenade dotted with restaurants, bars, and a fishing area that can be accessed from over 30 different spots.

The charm of Surfside is that so many of the restaurants, residences, and activities are just a golf cart ride or even a short walk away seen between the ocean and Highway 17! Benjamin's Bakery and Café, which has been a landmark in Surfside for over 25 years, is a must-try for breakfast. It delivers delicious handmade breakfast bread, sandwiches and pastries. There are also rental stores providing nice beach chairs and umbrellas for some much-needed shade, but water activities are limited, with only swimming as a viable choice.
